What We Handle Under EV Charger Installation

Most of a charger job never touches the charger. The circuit, the route and the supply are the work, and this is how they break down:

01

Dedicated circuit and protection

Your charger takes a way of its own on the board, protected to suit the unit, so it is never fighting the kitchen for current.

02

The cable route

Board to car, mapped before the quote, whether the path turns out to be a wall, a ceiling void, a cavity or a trench across the yard.

03

Wall or post mounting

It goes up where the lead meets the car without a stretch, at a height that suits whoever ends up plugging it in.

04

A hard look at your supply

How much the house can draw sets the charger's ceiling, so we check it early rather than discovering it on install day.

05

Commissioning and app setup

The unit gets tested, configured, put on your wifi if it wants to be, and you start a charge with us standing there.

Signs You Need EV Charger Installation

Most people call once the novelty of a power point has worn off. These are the usual triggers:

  • A whole night on a standard outlet still leaves you short in the morning
  • The charging lead lives across a doorway, a path, or a window sill
  • The outlet you charge from feels warm after a session
  • Two cars now take turns on one slow charge point
  • You are mid-renovation and want the cable in before the walls close
  • The car came with a charger in the boot and it is still in the boot

Why Bronte Properties Call For This

Almost every charger here comes down to one question. How does the cable get from the board to the car?

The ground under this suburb is sand, rock and shale, and the blocks rise and fall rather than sitting flat. Where the car parks away from the board, that run stops being cable work and starts being digging.

Trenching through shale is slow, and it is the part of the job people never picture when they price a charger online. It is also why two houses on one street can get very different quotes for the same unit on the wall.

So we walk the route first and talk about the charger second. Sometimes it is a tidy run along a wall and an hour of work. Sometimes it is hard ground the whole way, and you deserve to know that before you buy.

What Your EV Charger Installation Quote Depends On

Nobody can price this from the charger model alone. Here is what actually moves it:

  • How far apart the board and the parking spot sit, and what lies between them
  • What that route is made of, because hard ground can become the biggest line on the quote
  • Whether the board has a spare way, or one has to be made
  • The size of your supply, since it limits what the charger can deliver and may need sorting first
  • Single or three-phase, and whether the unit you picked can use what you have

Quoting costs nothing, happens at your place, and lands in writing before a cent is committed. The price we quote is the price you pay, and first-timers take $50 off your first service.

What Usually Gets Booked Alongside a Charger

Chargers rarely arrive alone, because the car exposes whatever the house was already getting away with.

The common companion is switchboard upgrades. An older board often has no spare way and no RCD, and adding the largest new load in the house is exactly the wrong moment to ignore that.

The other one is supply. When the house cannot carry the charger at full output, the fix sits on the network side of the meter, which is a level 2 electrician job.

Either way you hear about it while we are still quoting, not halfway through.

Our EV Charger Installation Process, Start to Finish

Most single-charger installs are a one-day job. A long trench or a supply upgrade stretches that, and you will hear about it before the day, not during it.

  1. The route gets walked first Board, parking spot, and every metre in between. This visit decides the price, which is why it happens in person and not over the phone.

  2. The quote lands in writing Charger, circuit, route and mounting, all costed and explained in plain english. Nothing is ordered until you say go.

  3. Circuit in, charger up The new circuit runs from the board, the unit gets mounted where we agreed, and the route gets made good behind us.

  4. Commissioned, tested, certified The circuit is tested, the unit commissioned, and a charge run in front of you. Your certificate of compliance follows the job.

Compliance, Certificates and NSW Requirements

An EV charger is not a plug-in appliance. It is a new circuit, which makes it notifiable electrical work in NSW.

Chargers go in to AS/NZS 3000, and the RCD type follows what the unit's maker calls for, which is not always what the rest of your board runs.

The finished circuit gets tested, and a certificate of compliance goes to NSW Fair Trading with a copy to you. Keep that copy, because your insurer and the next buyer may both ask for it.

Where the charger needs more than your supply can give, the supply work is separate and licensed differently again. We sort that out at quoting stage rather than surprising you with it.

Why This Is a Job for Our Team

Charger work is where cutting corners shows up later. All of it runs under NSW Electrical Contractor Licence #452529C, and we are members of Master Electricians Australia, which is a standard you can check rather than a badge on a van.

Jack left us a Google review after his charger went in, and said the cable run was the neatest he had seen. The invoice landed exactly where the quote did, on the third job we had done for him.

Common questions

Common EV Charger Installation FAQs

Six questions that come up on nearly every charger job.

Can I supply my own gear, or do you bring the materials?

Both happen. Chargers often arrive with the car, and we will fit one you have bought, provided it is approved for sale here and we can complete the maker's commissioning.

Is my home too old for ev charger installation?

No, because the supply and the board matter and the year the house went up does not. A pre-war cottage with a healthy supply is an easier job than a newer place already at its limit.

What are the signs I need ev charger installation?

The clearest one is a granny lead trailing across the yard. If eight hours plugged into a household socket is not getting the car where you need it, a dedicated circuit is the answer.

Do NSW rules require anything to be lodged for ev charger installation?

Yes. Adding the circuit makes it notifiable electrical work, so it gets tested and the paperwork is lodged with NSW Fair Trading. Your copy is emailed.

How long does ev charger installation take?

One charger is usually a day's work. The variable is the route, not the unit, so a long dig through hard ground is what stretches it out.

Do I need a licensed electrician for ev charger installation?

Always. It is fixed wiring on a dedicated circuit, so the law is clear on who may touch it, and so is the difference between a valid warranty and a void one.
